[Etc.] Tabletop Pong

with a comment

Windell H. Oskay of the famous site Evil Mad Scientist Laboratory invented Tabletop Pong. A machine inspired by the pinball, by table tennis and of course by game Pong d' Atari.

What Pong is supposed to represent? In question, Windell answers:  it is a game somewhere between the pinball and table tennis: two players have each the single button which controls the position of a racket along the track. By using rackets, they make rebound the bullet backward and forward and try not to miss the bullet, for fear that the other player makes a run. The surface of rackets is curved, so that the bullet is returned in different directions according to the position of impact. Rackets are operated, so that the bullet keeps a relatively constant speed between both sides, and the speed augments progressively as game advances. The surface of game is at level with a line stippled in the middle, and scores are shown on each side of this line. There are sides of the playground, above and down, on which the bullet can rebound. It seems possible, no? Then it was constructed.

Not too much chronophage but retro, it that is played with navigator's windows. Realisation is of Stewart Smith, artist-programmer of New York, whose other plans, for example the widget Windmaker it is possible to discover, on the site of its agency (via )
